Yes, Madhyapradesh a major kabuli chick peas state in world is facing delays in kabuli chick peas sowing. Two main reasons for delay in sowing are :
Firstly, Hot weather is a big obstacle for farmers in sowing KCP. Temprature with 37°-38°C is not favourable for KCP sowing and thus farmers are looking upto weather to decrease some degrees in its temprature to start sowing.
Secondly,The two main KCP growing areas of madhyapradesh, malwa and nimar are delayed by atleast 15 days due to late harvest in soyabean seeds and cotton. Even after harvest of soyabean and cotton it tooks 15 to 20 days to farmer to prepare fields for KCP sowing.
Therefore, we won’t expect new crop of KCP before 10 February 2024, and its too long time with very small size of stocks in hand and prices of KCP may see new historical prices in 2023.
